Moles are great diggers, able to create 20 metres of tunnels in a day. They feed on a variety of small animals including insect larvae, snails and slugs, but their favourite food is earthworms. Sometimes a mole can have hundreds of earthworms stored in his tunnel! When tired from digging, moles rest in large underground chambers lined with dry grass.
