Scotweb’s MD, Dr Nicholas J Fiddes, has written a free illustrated e-book, as a gift to help kilt lovers everywhere. In simple non-technical language it covers every aspect of buying a kilt, choosing your tartan, and accessorising an outfit for every occasion.
As a Governor of the Scottish Tartans Authority, and founder of the world’s first company to market kilts on the Internet (yes, Scotweb) no one is better qualified to offer such advice. Impartial and objective, this is a personal work and is not a Scotweb publication.
This is a quality sporran, and looks much like sealskin but is actually cowhide for the US market since sealskin cannot be shipped to the US. A highly-recommended item!

A really good, well made item. The only point to make is that the sporran I received has black fur, not the brown as shown in the photograph. Not a problem though, delighted anyway

This is a really solid sporran. It's workmanship is fine; the fur is of even color and texture, the tassles are solidly affixed on strong chains in case of unfortunate snags. Makes a nice drumming noise while briskly walking! Only complaint is that it is a bit difficult to close the snap. I suspect this difficulty will ease as the leather gets worked in and supple. Thankfully, the snap stays well closed once secured.

I quite like the look of this sporran, (but admittedly, I don't own others to know for certain what they're like) and it's hard to beat the price. However, I have difficulty buttoning it shut unless it's full of "stuff". The rivet on the back of the celtic button seems to get in the way.
This buttoning difficulty may be true of all sporrans like this, but I doubt it...
