Sterling silver heavy celtic cross. The celtic cross differs from its Christian counterpart in the circle that surrounds the intersection. They are believed to pre-date Christianity and appeared across Britain as free-standing stones from as early as the 7th Century. This cross has a central never-ending celtic knot design. The continual looping of this design suggests themes of eternity and interconnectedness, and knots may have been made at one time to foil evil spirits. Some knots were used as magical talismans for protection.
